It's been two weeks since that giant KFC bucket landed in Aleena Headrick's front yard and if we ever thought it was possible, it's even more popular now than it was then.
Bill Cartwright, the general manager of Waynesboro's KFC, says the chicken legends were happy to join the party, "The colonel was really big on family values and family participation, obviously this family is very close knit and we wanted to do something for the family and the community. We just think it's really neat how far this has gone.
So KFC prepared chicken, biscuits, more chicken, macaroni, coleslaw slaw. And did I mention there was chicken? It was just a small, intimate gathering for one hundred.
But the number of people in Aleena Headrick's house pales in comparison to the number of people who have heard her story, "To Detroit, to California, to Utah, to Canada, Canadian National Radio, to the print media in London. Everybody just thinks it's a really great story that I have a chicken bucket in my yard."
People are still stopping to take pictures with the Bucket. Aleena is modest, but I would say we could call her famous now, "Local, temporary celebrity, yes."
She's still being a great sport about it, I asked if she's had any second thoughts about her new lawn decoration, "As long as the Shoney's Big Boy doesn't show up next to it, I think we'll be good."
I asked why Headrick's landlord wasn't there and she said actually when this bucket is mounted on the pole, he's going to have a party of his own.
